With skills honed over nearly five decades of working as a communications specialist in the public sector, Michael Player has extensive knowledge, insights and life experience.
Michael concluded his working career in communications in 2021.
Michael is a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand, is an Accredited Member and maintains membership as a retired member.
His most passionate interest, however, is in the restoration of the health of the harbour in Porirua. As Chair of Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour and Catchments Community Trust, Michael works with a team of other trustees to advocate for the harbour and its catchments. The Trust interacts with all the harbour's key stakeholders, making submissions to local and central government and undertaking activities to raise the level of public understanding of the role the harbour plays in the local environment.
